Sapphire – Nigeria - 3.73 cts - Ref. MS/1
From the Mambilla region of Nigeria/Cameroon come these river-worn stones. Compared to some earlier material we have offered from this locality they display a richer blue hue with a somewhat darker tone and stronger saturation. The stones show strong blue colour down the 'C' axis and lighter blue tones down the 'A' axes. Some colour zoning and banding may be present in individual stones.
The stones are graded AA - AAA. Due to the rough crystal surfaces an accurate clarity grading is not always possible; however, the material has been carefully selected for its colour and cutting potential.
Sapphire is highly dichroic and therefore difficult to photograph accurately. The stones have been photographed in daylight equivalent light under different conditions to better illustrate the colours present.
Graded AA - AAA and weighing 3.73 cts., the stone has a good shape and attractive colour.
